Lelo's Gigi is the second bestselling toy at Babeland.com so I was curious to give her a try. She is a petite vibrator designed for g-spot massage.

Lelo make stylish intimate devices that have been described as the “Rolls-Royce” of sex toys. I’m expecting a pedigree toy, something that purrs but is powerful and solid to ride, and I’m pleased to say this is true. I have two other Lelo toys, and they are both well-made and durable.

Designer Sex Toys

For most of us, the pleasure of buying new clothes or shoes is how they look and the way they make us feel. Visually, Gigi scores 10 out of 10. She comes beautifully wrapped in a satin pouch in a sleek black box that reminds me of Chanel. There is also a user manual in several languages, a battery recharger and a one-year warranty card.

First of all you need to charge her up, so plug her in and leave her for two hours, which will give you around four hours of pleasure. I love that she is rechargeable, as there’s no scrambling around for batteries or extra cost incurred (for that alone it’s worth paying more for a rechargeable toy). I tend to charge my babies up at the same time as my mobile, en masse (yes, I use them as much as my phone!).

Gigi is smaller, lighter and slimmer than I imagined. She fits neatly into the palm of my hand and is contoured to give you an internal hug. She is made from body-safe silicone, which is FDA-approved and phthalate-free. You can choose from three colours: deep rose, pale pink and turquoise (mine is deep rose), and she has a white plastic handle with a +/- interface so you can turn her on/off and lock her when you need to (handy for travel and if found by little fingers). The styling is clean with a nod to Apple, so if you prefer Macs to PCs, then you’ll love Lelo toys. Gigi looks like she’d be quite happy plugged into my white Mac Book.

Finding Your G-spot

Unlike the harder jelly plastic toys, Gigi is made from silicone, so it feels like a silk scarf between your fingers. I didn’t have any problem inserting her without lube, as she slips in easily. You can use lube, but make sure it’s water-based rather than silicone, as this is a silicone toy. I would say, however, that it’s better to be turned on before you attempt g-spot play, as the g-spot will swell when you are aroused and will be easier to find. She is curvaceous and a snug fit, hugging your curves nicely. She is also nifty enough to sit between you and your partner if you want to use her as part of sex play.

Press the interface in the middle to turn her on and then use the +/– keys to increase the vibe or tone it down. The dial is simple to use but on the small side, and the keys are close set so it’s easy to accidentally change settings or slow her down when you are enjoying a constant vibration. It’s fine for delicate fingers, but I have large hands and long fingers, so I struggled with this. I imagine most men would get a bit flustered, finding it a tad too fiddly to use on their partner. The plastic handle also gets quite slippery if you have lube on your hands, so keep a towel or cloth handy to wipe off any excess lube.

Five-Star Speed Settings

Gigi has five settings, ranging from a soft flutter to a deep pulsation. The soft flutter is a delightful tease, especially on your clitoris. I set it to this when I slip her inside so that my body can get used to the sensation. The first setting is continuous. Second is long pulsing. Third is medium pulsing. Fourth is short pulsing, and finally, the fifth is a rolling wave that feels delicious, like a throbbing **** that’s about to burst inside you. The choice is five-star, but personally, a bit too much. I’m a simple girl and all I want is two speeds: a low throb and Concorde; anything in the middle is too distracting. It’s annoying when your finger slips and sets her off down a whole other avenue (this is my gripe with most toys, not just the Gigi). I know she is expensive and the sophisticated motor setting reflects this, so I’m not going to complain too much. The choice is there if you want it, and I’d probably moan if it wasn’t.

Positions and Techniques to Stimulate the G-spot

The trick is to experiment and take your time with Gigi. The lady doesn’t like to be rushed, and you’ll get more out of her if you take your time. Lock yourself away for an evening of pleasure and fun. Try her in different positions, depths and techniques – roll the shaft over your vaginal walls, rock her back and forth, and try hooking the lip behind your g-spot zone and see what happens. Hopefully she’ll introduce you to a whole new pleasure zone.

Once she’s in place with the flat head pressing against your vaginal wall (aim back and upwards), just keep her there and slowly ramp up the power until you feel all warm and fuzzy inside, as your g-spot starts to swell. She has given me deep orgasms, especially when I stimulate my clitoris at the same time.

As said, I like using her for clitoral stimulation too, as the flat head and soft flutter setting are a treat when you need a more generalized sensation (sometimes the tip of a vibrator can feel too hard and the clitoris retracts). It also feels lovely if you rub her against the perineum and your nipples, though I draw the line at anal stimulation. There are specially designed toys for that, and it’s not hygienic to mix up your orifices.

The highest setting is intense enough for me, and as she is a short lady, she’s not really designed for deep thrusting (use a dildo for that). She is good at shallow and focused penetration on the g-spot area. For such a powerful toy, she is also super quiet – more of a purr rather than a buzz, which is a definite plus. It’s very difficult to relax with a toy if you’re worried about ears behind paper-thin walls.

How to Clean Your Sex Toy

How to clean her? Easy. Just use cleaning wipes or a mild soap and water. If you use water, remember to plug in the plastic flap that covers the hole for the charger; she won’t work anymore if she gets wet inside.

Overall, I love my Gigi, and she has given me hours of pleasure. She’s not perfect – the dial is too small and it’s sometimes difficult to find the +/- button once she’s inside you, especially if your hands are slippery with lube, but that’s a small point. This is a quality toy, fun to play with, and does the job nicely, thank you. Once you’ve got the hang of using her on your own, let your partner experiment with her. It will give him or her a boost when you receive a full-throttle orgasm, and please persevere if you’ve not experienced one. It will wash all your problems away (well, temporarily at least). Savor your Gigi and only bring her out to play when you’ve got lots of time.
